Quickly and without much reduction in quality. Have tried TMPGEnc with the QT plugin which seemed nice enough apart from the flakiness in picture quality - all sorts of pops and squares. Tried another shareware thing, WinMPG Video Convert, which was nice enough but v.poor picture quality.

Alternatively, have a go with mov2avi and grab the batch file too. You can go direct to another codec with the program. But the last time I tried, I seem to recall just outputting it to uncompressed avi, bunging it in VirtualDub and encoding there. (CMD-line run, check the readme.txt file.)
